Watch: ‘Rev’ Al Sharpton’s Goes On Weird Pro-Abortion Tourism Rant

Monday’s Morning Joe opened with fill-in host Jonathan Lemire and his panel debating the amendments Republicans proposed to the National Defense Authorization Act. These amendments would reinstate previous policies in the military, by not funding travel expenses for women in the service looking to have abortions out of state because of state laws that ban the procedure.

The clips played in the segment pushed the narrative of Senator Tom Cotton (R-AR) and Representative Michael McCaul (R-TX) being “callous” for defending the bill, to which Al Sharpton responded saying it is “callous” to try and “minimize the impact of a woman’s decision to have or not have an abortion” and “try and act like this is some excursion.”

I just want to state that I think this guy is a reverend for tax purposes only, at this point…

In response to these claims, Lemire argued that these women are being used as “political pawns.” This statement is inaccurate and shows a partisan effort to politicize the military instead of basing the conclusions on unanimous consensus.

President Emeritus of the Council on Foreign Relations Richard Haass weighed in, labeling Republicans as jeopardizing national security. This implication is false, as the past policies that only removed liberal ideology from the military was not the cause of any of the recruitment issues and funding issues.

He finished by concluding the whole issue was “a sign of just how much things have deteriorated,” and he was right. Democrats pushing the military into becoming an abortion payout machine and a diversity indoctrination center and then accusing Republicans of politicizing the military shows how drastic the deterioration has gone.

Watch

As Republican Senator Tom Cotton said: “America is not an abortion clinic and taxpayer money should not be funding abortion tourism.” Women should not have to travel to another state because of their state’s laws, but it should be recognized that the military is not here to determine what is morally right or wrong. It is here to protect the country and its citizens, and to involve itself in the “culture wars” is not fulfilling its mission statement. Liberals are wrong for attempting to turn the military into a political battlefield and weaponizing it for their own agendas.
