Watch: KJP Blames COVID For Biden’s Medal Of Honor Ceremony Goof Up

During yesterday’s Medal of Honor ceremony, President Joe Biden quickly left the stage, raising questions over his potential exposure to COVID-19. White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre tried to explain the president’s hasty departure, telling reporters it was a part of the plan to minimize any potential contact with the attending audience members.

“The president was determined to honor the recipient, Capt. [Larry] Taylor, and for this reason removed his mask to deliver powerful remarks about Capt. Taylor’s service to the nation,” said Jean-Pierre. “But shortly afterward it was also planned for the president to leave the ceremony when there was a pause in the program.”

Despite this explanation, many have called attention to an apparent lapse of President Biden’s judgment. First Lady Jill Biden tested positive for COVID-19 the night before the ceremony and yet he still attended, meaning if he was infected then the hundreds of people at the event were put at risk. Furthermore, Biden and the Medal of Honor recipient walked onto the stage with masks on, and yet removed them throughout their time at the ceremony. This could have facilitated a potential transmission of COVID-19 to fellow attendees given the highly contagious nature of the virus.

This blunder on President Biden’s part only emphasizes the importance of following the health guidelines set by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. It also calls into question the integrity of the White House on responding to the pandemic. Jean-Pierre’s comments thus far have tried to downplay the incident as an effort to appropriately honor Capt. Taylor but it’s difficult to ignore the lapse in safety protocol that could have posed a risk to everyone in attendance.

It’s imperative for the Biden Administration to prioritize the safety of the public more seriously and to take preventative measures to reduce the risk of possible infections from exposure to the virus. It’s understandable to honor the service of a Medal of Honor recipient but carelessness in adhering to basic health and safety protocols can put others at risk. President Biden must better assess any potential exposure and be mindful of not only the extraordinary impact of the virus, but also how negligence on his part can unintentionally pass it to other people.

  • Jean-Pierre’s cover up comments are par for the course. Face it Biden looked bewildered and probably thought (if he has any) that he was following the commands of someone that was appointed out of camera range. His early departure before the benediction show a complete inability to comprehend what is going on around him. The shamful part is that he is surrounded by people that know this and yet operate him like puppet and Jean-Pierre has to come up with plausable but false coverage for the blunders in speech and actions.

  • So exposing a Medal of Honor precipitant to covid for a photo op is fine, how much bitching would the liberal democrats be making if a Republican did this?
