As the saying goes, asking a question once is enough for a curious mind, but asking multiple times means there’s something more to it. This seems to be the case with the ongoing discussion about a potential debate between President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump.
The recent news of Republican Nikki Haley dropping out of the 2024 election has left Biden and Trump as the only contenders for the presidential seat. With this in mind, one would naturally assume that a public debate between the two would be inevitable.
However, it seems that there might be more to the story than what meets the eye. During a press conference on Wednesday, White House correspondent for Fox News Peter Doocy questioned White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre about the possibility of a debate between Biden and Trump.
Doocy’s repeated line of questioning seemed to annoy Jean-Pierre, who retorted by asking if that was what he was “excited about” and if that was what he “wanted to see.” It was evident that she was trying to dismiss the question, but Doocy persisted and asked how President Biden would perform in a debate.
Instead of giving a direct answer, Jean-Pierre chose to mention Biden’s 2023 State of the Union address and how he had “taken on” Republicans during the speech. She commended his ability to stand up for programs like Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid, claiming that he had fought for the American people.
However, her attempt to shift the conversation away from a potential debate only adds to the suspicion surrounding the topic. It cannot be ignored that President Biden has spent a considerable time hiding from cameras and the press. In one instance, he even abruptly ended a press conference, announcing that he was “going to bed.”
His mental state has also come into question, with the recent Robert Hur report stating that if he were to stand trial, he would come off as a “well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory.” These actions and statements from the president only fuel the desire for a debate between him and Trump, as it would give the public a chance to see their respective positions and policies.
It is not the first time that the question about a debate has been raised, and yet there has been no clear answer from the White House. Jean-Pierre’s evasive response to the question only adds to the mystery surrounding the issue.

So the question remains, why is the White House avoiding a straightforward answer? Is there a reason they do not want to commit to a debate between the two candidates? Or is there another underlying reason for this reluctance? As the public continues to ask for a clear response, it remains to be seen if we will ever get a definitive answer.
The only thing the biden/obama administration cares about in picking this president’s press secretary is checking the right boxes.
