Actor and singer Zachary Levi sent a powerful message to “closeted” conservatives in Hollywood on Monday, urging them to not hold back their support for Republican nominee Donald Trump any longer. In response to Whoopi Goldberg’s claim that there are “working Republicans” in the industry, Levi argued that they may be few and far between due to the consequences and backlash they may face for expressing their true political views.
“There’s plenty of people in my industry, in Hollywood, who are terrified to publicly say they would vote for Donald Trump or be conservative in any way,” Levi stated on his Instagram story. “But like I said, y’all, our industry is gonna be gonzo, it already is. So my cry to all of you out there, you closeted conservatives, closeted Trump voters, it’s now or never.”
Levi went on to address the fear that many in Hollywood may have of speaking out in support of Trump, stating that the industry itself may not exist for much longer due to the pandemic and other issues. He called on those who are afraid to come forward to not let those fears hold them back any longer.
“To Whoopi’s point, back in the day there may have been more of a balance [of political views],” Levi said. “But nowadays, you really have to be at a certain level in your career to get away with it. And that was also back then. Now, we can only name Jon Voight and someone else had to help you with Dennis Quaid, out of the thousands of actors in Hollywood. That speaks volumes.”
Levi, who endorsed Trump at a rally in Michigan on Sept. 28, shared with the crowd that he was raised in a Christian conservative family and taught to have a healthy level of distrust for the government and for an “industry that runs amok.” He also had the opportunity to introduce former presidential candidates Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Tulsi Gabbard at the rally.
It is clear that Hollywood has become an overwhelmingly liberal industry, where conservative voices are often silenced or shunned. As Levi stated, it seems that one must achieve a certain level of success before they can safely express their conservative beliefs. This speaks to the one-sidedness of the industry, where only certain viewpoints are accepted and promoted.
It is time for those in Hollywood, and in the media in general, to be open-minded and accepting of different political beliefs. In a true democracy, all voices should be heard and respected, not just those that align with a certain agenda. Levi’s message is a call to action for those who may have been too afraid to speak out in the past. It is now or never.
In contrast, we have seen the same bias and intolerance from politicians like Kamala Harris and Tim Walz, and even from the media itself, who continually push their own agendas instead of presenting fair and balanced information. It is no wonder that voices like Levi’s are few and far between in Hollywood, and that is why we must come together and show our support for President Trump. He is not only fighting for our country, but for our individual freedoms as well.
It is up to each and every one of us to decide who we support and how we express those beliefs. But as Levi has shown, it is crucial that we speak up and stand for what we believe in, regardless of the consequences. So let us not be afraid any longer and join together in support of President Trump and the values that he stands for. It is now or never.
