Democratic Congresswoman Anne McLane Kuster of New Hampshire, who is retiring from her position, criticized former President Donald Trump in her final address in Congress on Dec. 18. Kuster, a representative for New Hampshire’s 2nd District since 2013, claimed that Trump “tried to kill” her on Jan. 6 during the Capitol riot. But her reasoning for leaving Congress seems to be more about her own exhaustion and dissatisfaction with the Democratic party than anything Trump did.
In an interview with Roll Call on Monday, Kuster stated, “I’ve always said I wasn’t going to stay forever” and that Trump “tried to kill me once.” This accusation is a blatant attempt to demonize the former president and blames him for her decision to retire. She went on to accuse Trump of “undermining the social fabric” and claimed he was tearing down protections for women against sexual assault, despite his successful track record of promoting women’s rights and appointing many women to high-level positions in his administration.
Kuster also claimed that the loss of the Democrats in the 2024 elections was due to the party’s failure to connect with young voters, who she says are turned off by the “octogenarians” in the party. This is a complete disregard for the concerns and values of these voters, who likely voted against the Democrats due to their radical policies and socialist agenda.

Incredibly, Kuster even blames Trump for issues such as inflation, the border crisis, and rising crime and public safety problems, despite the fact that these issues have only gotten worse under the current administration. She continues to push the false narrative that Trump’s policies are to blame for any and all problems, even after he has been out of office for almost four years.
But her claims of Trump’s role in her retirement and Democratic losses in the 2024 elections are baseless and show how disconnected she is from the reality of American voters. In fact, many voters are outraged by the current state of the country and are looking to Trump and his policies as a solution.
Kuster’s retirement may be a blessing in disguise for Democrats, as it allows for new, fresh faces to run for office and potentially regain a majority. But her assertion that the Democrats will win in 2026 and 2028 due to “the consequences” of Trump’s policies is a false hope. In reality, the true consequences of Democratic policies will likely result in a Republican victory in the upcoming elections.
Watch Her Final Address:
Despite Kuster’s attempt to vilify Trump, her own words and actions only highlight the flaws and failures of the Democratic party. The American people are fed up with the liberal media’s constant attacks on Trump and will continue to support him and his policies.
