The liberal media has once again revealed its blatant bias by refusing to call the violent anti-ICE chaos in Los Angeles what it truly is: riots. Instead, outlets like The Associated Press, ABC News, and the Los Angeles Times have deliberately softened their language, framing the arson, vandalism, and attacks on law enforcement as mere “protests.” This is a disgraceful attempt to sanitize the destruction unleashed by left-wing agitators who torched cars, looted businesses, and assaulted police officers.
The Associated Press, in a Sunday article, downplayed the riots by comparing them to past unrest, writing: “The protests did not reach the size of past demonstrations that brought the National Guard to Los Angeles, including the Watts and Rodney King riots, and the 2020 protests against police violence, in which [Democratic California Gov. Gavin] Newsom requested the assistance of federal troops.” This is a clear effort to minimize the severity of the situation, as if the violence is somehow justified or insignificant because it hasn’t yet matched the scale of previous riots.
Meanwhile, masked rioters were caught on camera vandalizing property, setting fires, and hurling rocks and fireworks at police in neighborhoods like Paramount. Graffiti with slogans like “F–K ICE” and “KILL ICE” covered public buildings—yet the media still hesitated to label these criminals as rioters. ABC News even ran a headline acknowledging the “violent” nature of the demonstrations but still avoided the term except when quoting ICE acting Director Todd Lyons.
The Los Angeles Times went further, publishing images of burning cars while stubbornly referring to the mayhem as “protests.” Even ABC7 Los Angeles anchor Marc Brown shamelessly trivialized the violence, stating: “It could turn very volatile if you move law enforcement in there the wrong way and turn what is just a bunch of people having fun watching cars burn into a massive confrontation and altercation between officers and demonstrators.” Since when is watching cars burn considered “having fun”? This is the kind of reckless rhetoric that emboldens lawlessness.

President Donald Trump, recognizing the danger, swiftly deployed 2,000 National Guard troops to restore order—a decisive move that Governor Gavin Newsom hypocritically opposed, despite the rampant destruction. The riots erupted after federal ICE agents arrested over 100 illegal immigrants, including gang members and drug traffickers—yet the media framed the enforcement of U.S. immigration laws as the real outrage.
CBS News followed the same playbook, refusing to use the word “riot” while describing how agitators “threw objects at police from behind a makeshift barrier… hurled chunks of concrete, rocks, electric scooters and fireworks at California Highway Patrol officers.” Once again, the AP’s influence was clear, as CBS included an almost identical paragraph downplaying the riots by comparing them to past unrest.
The liberal media’s refusal to call these violent mobs what they are—rioters—exposes their agenda: protect the left, demonize law enforcement, and undermine President Trump’s efforts to restore order. While they coddle criminals, Trump stands firm, putting America’s safety first.
