The Wayne Police Department confirmed on Facebook:
“The Wayne Police Department responded to an active shooter at Crosspointe Church in Wayne this morning. Upon arrival, officers determined that a security guard for the church shot and killed the suspect. One victim was shot in the leg. Please avoid the area. Officers are still actively investigating.”
WXYZ reported that the shooting occurred around 11:15 a.m., shortly after the service began. A police source revealed that the suspect was “on his way to the church when another person tried to stop him with their truck.” When the attacker fired at the vehicle, the security guard intervened, ending the threat.
