House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) was put on the hot seat during a recent CNBC interview when host Andrew Ross Sorkin dared to question him about the Democratic Party’s embrace of socialist policies—specifically, their nominee for New York City mayor, Zohran Mamdani. Jeffries, visibly agitated, dodged every attempt to hold him accountable before finally snapping, “I’m trying to understand why you would spend a significant amount of time asking me about the Democratic nominee who’s not even the mayor.”
The exchange exposed the Democrats’ growing discomfort with their own radical wing. Mamdani, an open socialist, has pushed for policies like rent control, defunding the police, and seizing private property—ideas that would cripple New York’s economy. Yet when pressed, Jeffries refused to distance himself, proving once again that the Democratic Party is no longer the party of JFK but of Karl Marx.
Sorkin rightly challenged Jeffries, pointing out the hypocrisy of claiming to support free markets while backing a socialist like Mamdani. The host asked, “How can you be an advocate for a free market and also support a socialist for mayor?” Instead of answering, Jeffries deflected, accusing Sorkin of unfairly targeting a candidate who “isn’t even mayor yet.” But that’s exactly the point—Mamdani’s extremist views deserve scrutiny before he potentially takes power.

The liberal media, however, has largely given Mamdani a free pass, focusing instead on attacking President Donald Trump’s pro-growth policies. While Trump champions deregulation, tax cuts, and American energy dominance, Democrats like Jeffries enable radicals who want to dismantle capitalism altogether. The contrast couldn’t be clearer: Trump’s leadership has revived the economy, while Democrats flirt with policies that would send New York—and eventually the nation—into economic ruin.

Jeffries’ meltdown is a sign of desperation. The Democratic Party knows it can’t defend its lurch toward socialism, so its leaders resort to anger and evasion. Meanwhile, President Trump remains steadfast in his commitment to free-market principles, standing as the last line of defense against the left’s destructive agenda.
