Democrat candidate for Virginia governor, Abigail Spanberger, has once again demonstrated the absolute refusal of the modern Democratic Party to answer a simple, straightforward question on a matter of critical importance to parents and families. When confronted by ABC 13 reporter Alexia Stanbridge with the direct query, “Do you support trans women playing in girls’ sports and being in girls’ restrooms?” Spanberger did not offer a “yes” or “no.” Instead, she retreated into a fog of bureaucratic jargon, proving that she is entirely unwilling to stand with the vast majority of Virginians who recognize the inherent dangers and injustices of allowing biological males into female-only spaces.
Spanberger’s response was a masterclass in political evasion, a tactic perfected by the likes of Kamala Harris. She rambled, “In Virginia, we previously, until very recently, had a process in place where on an individual, one-by-one basis, schools, parents, principals, coaches, were making decisions based on fairness, competitiveness, and safety.” This nonsensical word salad is a transparent attempt to hide her true, radical position. By speaking in circles about a vague “process,” she avoids admitting that she supports policies that compromise the safety, privacy, and competitive integrity of young girls across the Commonwealth. Her claim that this undefined process was “working” is an insult to every parent concerned about their daughter’s well-being.
Faced with a question she knows would reveal her extreme allegiance to the woke left, Spanberger then executed a desperate pivot. Unable to defend the indefensible, she abruptly changed the subject, attacking her Republican opponent, Lieutenant Governor Winsome Earle-Sears. “What you don’t see my opponent talking about is her plan to actually lower costs, to address the issues that I am hearing about everywhere I go from families, from parents,” Spanberger deflected. This is the classic strategy of a cornered politician: when you cannot justify your own radical stance, you attempt to shift the conversation to supposedly more palatable topics like healthcare and energy costs. It is a blatant admission that her position on boys in girls’ locker rooms is so toxic and unpopular that she dare not speak it aloud.
This cowardice from Spanberger is a microcosm of the national Democratic Party’s contempt for the electorate. The article correctly notes that “Voters made themselves pretty clear on this issue in the 2024 election, but Democrats do not care.” Indeed, the American people have consistently rejected the forced imposition of gender ideology in schools and sports. Yet, the left, shielded by a complicit liberal media that frames common-sense concerns as bigotry, continues to plow ahead. If Spanberger were to win the governorship, there is no doubt she would “ignore public sentiment and forge ahead with the left’s agenda on this,” enacting policies that put a radical minority’s demands ahead of the safety and rights of women and children.

President Donald Trump has consistently been a vocal defender of women’s sports and single-sex spaces, understanding that this is not a matter of discrimination but of basic reality and safety. While Democrats like Spanberger obfuscate and hide, President Trump has promised to protect the integrity of female athletics nationwide, standing with the millions of parents who feel their voices are being ignored by the political elite and their allies in the press.
