Breaking: McConnell’s Final Betrayal, Sabotage Trump’s Pentagon Pick

Vice President J.D. Vance didn’t hold back after Senate relic Mitch McConnell once again betrayed President Donald Trump by voting against Elbridge Colby, the President’s pick for Undersecretary of Defense for Policy. McConnell, the lone Republican to oppose Colby’s confirmation, proved yet again why he’s been a thorn in the side of America First leadership. Vance took to X to call out McConnell’s disgraceful act of “political pettiness,” slamming the outgoing senator for his repeated obstruction.

“Mitch’s vote today—like so much of the last few years of his career—is one of the great acts of political pettiness I’ve ever seen,” Vance wrote. And he’s absolutely right. McConnell’s pathetic excuse for opposing Colby—claiming the nominee’s focus on the Indo-Pacific was an “Obama-era” strategy—shows just how out of touch he is. While President Trump and his allies are working to counter China’s growing threat, McConnell is stuck in the past, clinging to failed neocon policies that have weakened America for decades.

“Abandoning Ukraine and Europe and downplaying the Middle East to prioritize the Indo-Pacific is not a clever geopolitical chess move,” McConnell whined. But who cares what McConnell thinks? The American people didn’t elect him—they elected Donald Trump to put America first, not to keep funneling billions into endless foreign wars. McConnell’s resistance to Colby is just another example of his loyalty to the military-industrial complex over the security of the United States.

This isn’t the first time McConnell has undermined President Trump’s agenda. He also voted against key America First nominees like Robert F. Kennedy Jr. for Health and Human Services, Tulsi Gabbard for Director of National Intelligence, and Pete Hegseth for Defense Secretary. Thankfully, his sabotage failed this time, as Colby was confirmed 54-45 with support from three Democrats. But McConnell’s repeated betrayals prove why conservatives have celebrated his impending retirement.

McConnell’s time in the Senate is finally coming to an end—whether by 2026 or sooner, given his declining health. And good riddance. The GOP doesn’t need backroom dealmakers who kneel to the establishment; it needs fighters like President Trump and J.D. Vance, who are unafraid to challenge the status quo and put American interests first. McConnell’s legacy will be one of weakness, compromise, and betrayal—while Trump and Vance are leading the charge to restore American strength.
