As someone who is strongly against Joe Biden’s lax and disastrous immigration policies, it’s hard to ignore the evidence that illegal immigration is on the rise. Despite White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre’s insistence that illegal immigration numbers have decreased by 90% under the Biden administration, the facts prove otherwise.
In 2020, the last year of the Trump presidency, illegal immigration was at its lowest rate in 45 years. But with Joe Biden entering the White House, things changed. In just days, the numbers skyrocketed and now illegal immigration is at the highest rate in history.
According to data released by the US Customs and Border Protection (CBP), more than 1.2 million illegal immigrants have been encountered at the US-Mexico border during Fiscal Year 2023. This is in comparison to the 2.3 million migrants encountered in Fiscal Year 2022 and 1.7 million in Fiscal Year 2021. Additionally, another 600,000 migrants were able to evade CBP in Fiscal Year 2022.
These numbers are in stark contrast to the 458,088 illegal migrants encountered in Fiscal Year 2020, the last full year of the Trump presidency. It’s clear that the Biden administration has failed to address the issue of illegal immigration, and the situation is only getting worse.
When pressed by Fox News White House Correspondent Peter Doocy on the alleged 90% decrease in illegal immigration, Jean-Pierre accused Doocy of using “dramatics.” She said that the decrease was in relation to a parolee program put in place by the Biden administration, though the data does not seem to reflect this.
Texas Senator Ted Cruz put it perfectly when he said that Jean-Pierre “just flat-out lies.” The Biden administration has done nothing to address the issue of illegal immigration, and the numbers prove it. We can only hope that the situation will be fixed soon before it gets any worse.
