Disney’s “Snow Woke” Is the Fairest Flop of Them All

Snow White box office bomb — that’s not just a headline, folks. That’s the magical truth from the House of Mouse, where fairy tales now come with a side of scolding and a $270 million invoice for your disappointment. Disney’s latest live-action remake of Snow White didn’t just stumble out of the gates—it face-planted, rolled downhill, and landed in a steaming pile of DEI-certified compost.

And honestly? We saw it coming like a woke freight train.

The $270 Million Poison Apple

Let’s start with the numbers, because they speak louder than a diversity seminar. Despite years of hype, endless marketing, and some very expensive reshoots, Disney’s Snow White opened to a pathetic $15.5 million on Friday. That includes Thursday previews. Weekend estimates? Just $45 million.

To put that in perspective: The Little Mermaid—which was no blockbuster either—opened with over $95 million. And Dumbo, which no one asked for and everyone forgot about, managed $46 million. That’s right, Tim Burton’s flying elephant outperformed Rachel Zegler’s feminist fever dream.

You’ve got to work really hard to make a story about a beautiful princess, a wicked queen, and seven quirky companions boring. But Disney found a way. Bravo.

“Not 1937 Anymore”: Well, No Kidding

Let’s talk about Rachel Zegler—the actress who made the bold PR choice of insulting both the original film and its entire fanbase before the movie even hit theaters.

Back in 2023, Zegler told reporters that Snow White wasn’t going to be “saved by the prince” or dreaming of “true love.” No sir. This version of Snow White was dreaming about “becoming the leader she knows she can be.”

Which sounds suspiciously like Hillary Clinton’s memoir, not a children’s movie.

Her co-star, Gal Gadot, nodded along like this all made perfect sense. Gadot, by the way, plays the Evil Queen. And judging by her PR presence, she’s also the Good Queen, the Wise Queen, and possibly the Only Likeable One Left on Set.

It gets worse. Zegler and Gadot ended up at odds during the film’s promotion because of—what else—the Israel-Palestine conflict. Zegler posted “Free Palestine” messages the same day the trailer dropped, while Gadot, a former IDF soldier, stood by Israel. That’s right, the studio spent hundreds of millions only to have their leads fighting on social media during launch week.

Forget movie magic—this was a diplomatic disaster with costumes.

Snow White and the Seven Identity Markers

The film also made the bold choice to eliminate the iconic seven dwarves. Because apparently, casting little people is now “ableist.” Instead, Disney decided to roll out a grab-bag of racially and physically diverse randos that looked more like a Berkeley drum circle than beloved sidekicks.

After fan backlash, the studio tried to walk it back—poorly. But the damage was done. You don’t have to be a Disney historian to know that Snow White and the Seven Progressive Stereotypes just doesn’t hit the same.

It’s not that audiences don’t want diversity—they just don’t want forced, preachy, soulless diversity that feels like it was drafted by a DEI committee with zero imagination. Remember when characters had depth and charm, not bullet points and pronouns?

The Real Villain? Disney’s Woke Obsession

Here’s the thing: Disney used to tell timeless stories. Stories that transcended politics and appealed to families, kids, and yes—even grown men who still cry during The Lion King.

Now? They’re peddling morality plays written by TikTok interns.

This isn’t about being anti-progress or anti-woman or anti-whatever. It’s about being anti-bad-storytelling. The people in charge at Disney genuinely think they’re teaching you something—reprogramming your kids with every remake—and they can’t understand why you’re not clapping.

Here’s a hint: it’s not “because you’re racist” or “because you hate strong women.” It’s because you’re tired of being talked down to while your wallet gets emptied for sub-par, agenda-driven content.

Woke Ain’t Cheap

Let’s not forget the price tag. Snow White cost $270 million to make, thanks to endless rewrites, reshoots, and the aforementioned disaster marketing campaign. That doesn’t include the fortune Disney spent trying to convince you this thing wasn’t a total trainwreck.

Compare that to Barbie, which managed to be modern and wildly entertaining. That movie crushed at the box office because it knew what it was and stuck to the bit. Snow White tried to be everything except good.

Even Disney insiders are finally waking up. Variety reported that execs are “reassessing” the live-action remake strategy. Ya think? Maybe next time don’t spend a quarter of a billion dollars on a movie your lead actress openly hates.

Final Thoughts

Disney used to be the dream factory. Now it’s a lecture hall with mouse ears.

This Snow White box office bomb isn’t just a flop—it’s a symbol. A symbol of what happens when you abandon charm for lectures, fantasy for feminism, and nostalgia for narratives no one asked for.

You can’t shame people into buying movie tickets. You can’t lecture families and expect applause. And you certainly can’t turn a beloved fairy tale into a progressive manifesto and expect it to be a hit.

But go ahead, Disney. Keep swinging that magic wand of wokeness. Just don’t be shocked when your next “reimagining” goes straight to streaming—and still gets skipped.

What do you think—did Disney finally hit rock bottom? Or do they have an even worse remake in store?
