The liberal media’s favorite defender of failing public schools, Randi Weingarten, was put in her place during a fiery exchange on Fox News’ “The Story with Martha MacCallum.” Weingarten, the President of the American Federation of Teachers (AFT), has long been a roadblock to meaningful education reform, advocating for endless funding increases while opposing school choice—policies that have left American students lagging behind. But this time, MacCallum wasn’t having it.
The segment quickly turned heated as MacCallum dismantled Weingarten’s tired arguments, particularly her insistence that throwing more money at failing schools would solve the problem. “We know that money does not equate to a better outcome,” MacCallum shot back, citing New Jersey as a prime example where bloated budgets have done nothing to improve student proficiency. When Weingarten tried to deflect with condescension—“Martha, Martha, sweetheart”—MacCallum immediately shut her down. “Don’t call me sweetheart!” she fired back, refusing to be patronized by a union boss whose policies have harmed children for decades.
Weingarten, flustered, attempted to pivot, claiming that conservatives had “flip-flopped” on education funding. But MacCallum wasn’t fooled. “They wanted to go to different programs; school choice programs and give (money) to parents who want to homeschool their kids,” she countered, exposing Weingarten’s refusal to empower families over bureaucrats. The AFT president then tried to argue that public school funding benefits red states like Mississippi—only for MacCallum to deliver another devastating rebuttal: “One of the things they have done in Mississippi is to expand (school) choice… They’re also doing something really important, which is to expand teacher training because they understand that teachers themselves do not understand the things they are supposed to be teaching.”
The truth is, the left’s education agenda has been a disaster. Under President Donald Trump, school choice gained unprecedented momentum, putting power back in the hands of parents rather than union elites like Weingarten. While the liberal media continues to parrot union talking points, Trump’s policies have championed real solutions—expanding charter schools, promoting vocational training, and demanding accountability. Meanwhile, Democrats and their media allies push radical ideologies, pornographic books in schools, and lockdowns that crippled an entire generation of students.

MacCallum’s takedown of Weingarten was more than just a viral moment—it was a microcosm of the broader fight for America’s future. The left wants control; Trump and conservatives want freedom. And as test scores continue to plummet under the left’s watch, parents are waking up.
