A Haitian man, who entered the United States illegally in 2022, has been released back into the community by Boston officials after being charged with the heinous crime of raping a developmentally disabled person. Despite the efforts of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to arrest and detain the man, the city’s refusal to cooperate has allowed him to roam freely.
The individual, whose name has not been disclosed, was arrested and charged with rape and indecent assault and battery on a developmentally disabled person in Dorchester. However, instead of being taken into federal custody, ICE faced opposition from the Democrat-run city. This disturbing decision has left citizens vulnerable to repeat offenses from the offender.
The 31-year-old man, who crossed the border just two years ago, has now been apprehended by federal agents. However, it took months for ICE to take action, as they were met with resistance from Boston officials. One agent described the city’s response as “disturbing.”
According to ICE, the man committed the sexual assault in September of last year. After his arrest, ICE immediately requested that an immigration hold be placed on the man. The city initially agreed, but later decided against honoring the hold, resulting in the man’s release. Despite being deemed inadmissible, the individual was released with an electronic monitoring device while awaiting trial.
Finally, after months of evading federal agents, the man was arrested last week. ICE reveals that the alleged perpetrator crossed into the U.S. near Brownsville, Texas, in December 2022. This prompted his detainment and the initiation of deportation proceedings. However, despite his criminal charges and his status as an illegal immigrant, the city of Boston allowed the man to roam freely, posing a significant threat to the community.
“I am deeply troubled by the actions of the criminal court in this case,” stated ERO Boston Field Office Director Todd Lyons in response to the city’s decision. He added, “ICE remains dedicated to ensuring the safety of residents and will continue to apprehend and detain individuals who pose a threat to the public.”
The incident, which highlights the ongoing debate over sanctuary cities, has sparked outrage and concern for the safety of the community. With the offender now in federal custody, the citizens of Boston can breathe a little easier knowing that ICE is taking proactive measures to protect them from dangerous criminals. But this disturbing event raises questions about the city’s priorities and the need for accountability in the face of such horrendous crimes.

The release of an illegal immigrant, charged with raping a vulnerable member of society, has caused turmoil and fear in the city of Boston. The refusal to honor an immigration detainer has allowed the accused perpetrator to remain at large for several months, putting innocent citizens at risk.
Thankfully, the efforts of ICE have led to the apprehension of this individual, but this incident serves as a reminder of the importance of enforcing federal immigration laws to ensure the safety of our communities.
Is there no way to dismiss judges that do not adhere to law? Seems to be a lot of cases lately where laws are being ignored by judges and DAs.
