A homeowner in North Carolina became increasingly frustrated with the rise of porch pirates during the holiday season. Wanting to play a little trick on the next culprit, the resident, who wished to remain anonymous, placed a heavy surprise in a box on their front porch.
“I was at the hardware store and doing some Christmas shopping when I thought, ‘Why not get something for those on the naughty list too?'” the homeowner explained to Queen City News.
The resident decided to take matters into their own hands and get back at the thieves who had been stealing packages from their porch. Instead of coal, the box was filled with something much heavier and useless to the crook. This was done intentionally.
The homeowner went on to share, “I took an old package box and filled it with bricks. I added a note saying, ‘We don’t appreciate you doing this,’ and waited patiently for a porch pirate to strike. And it worked, I caught one.”
As seen in the surveillance video of the incident, the thief struggled to pick up and carry the box. However, the individual was likely thrilled at the prospect of a package and ultimately disappointed when the box was opened.
Although the resident knows that this may not stop the thieves from stealing, they hope that the prank will make them think twice before targeting someone else’s home.
“I hope they enjoyed their bricks for Christmas,” the homeowner added.
With the holiday season now behind us, it is a reminder of how important it is to protect our homes from potential theft. Porch piracy has become a growing issue in many communities, and it is vital to take precautions to prevent it from happening.
As a community, we must stand together against thieves and protect each other’s property. Unfortunately, this may not be the last time a porch pirate strikes, but let’s hope that incidents like this will make them think twice before committing another theft.
No one should have to endure the frustration and disappointment of having their packages stolen from their doorstep. As we move forward from the holiday season, let’s all make a conscious effort to be vigilant and report any suspicious activity in our neighborhoods.
In the end, the porch pirate who took the box filled with bricks may have received a small dose of karma, but the real victory lies in making our neighborhoods safer and free of these thieves.
Good for him.
Stuuupid, worthless “prank”. The best on is the guy who puts a glitter and stink “bomb” in the package so that when it is opened it triggers and showers the idiot with glitter and a fine mist of feces. The smell is strong enough to make them puke and it usually coats the inside of their car!
