Former RNC chair Reince Priebus defends Trump’s cabinet choices against liberal media attacks.
During a heated ABC panel discussion, former DNC chair Donna Brazile accused Trump’s base of threatening wavering senators to support his unconventional cabinet picks. But Priebus shut down her claim, stating, “America unleashed MAGA. The American people chose Trump and his message.”
Despite massive pushback and smear campaigns from the liberal media, Trump’s unconventional picks, like former Fox host Pete Hegseth for secretary of defense, have continued to stand strong. In response to the attacks, Priebus stated, “MAGA is here because it has been accepted by the American people.”
Brazile argued that millions of Americans are not in support of MAGA and believe the Senate has a “constitutional responsibility” to vet the nominees. However, Priebus reminded her that the American people have already voiced their support for Trump’s agenda and choices.
Amidst the controversies surrounding Hegseth’s nomination, Trump has continued to stand by his pick and has even encouraged him to continue with his nomination campaign. Despite this, liberal media pundits and Senate lawmakers have been attacking him with sexual allegations and smear campaigns.
But Priebus made it clear that these attacks are not working and that he is “fine with the smears and threats” as they are coming from Republicans themselves. He stated, “It’s their own family. It’s their own people. We got to be reminded of this all the time.”
In an interview with The Washington Post, Republican Senator Lisa Murkowski revealed that Trump and his allies have warned other GOP lawmakers to support his nominees or risk losing their survival. But with the American people standing behind Trump, it is clear that his choices are already accepted and supported.
