It’s a tragedy that the White House and Democrats have used the Nashville shooting as an excuse to push their political agenda. Take the case of White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre, for instance. During a press briefing on the tragedy, she falsely stated that six elementary school children had died. A reporter corrected her, saying it was actually three children and three adults.
This is a prime example of how the White House and Democrats are quick to use tragedies to push their political agenda. President Joe Biden, for instance, has been quick to use this tragedy to call on Congress to pass an “assault weapons ban.” This is an oversimplification of the issue.
Banning guns isn’t going to solve a damn thing. Criminals will still get their hands on them, while lawful citizens will fall victim to their crimes. We should be focusing on the root causes of gun violence, such as mental health, racism, and poverty, and taking action to prevent these tragedies from happening in the future. We must empower lawful gun owners, better mental health awareness/treatment, and create safer schools.
Unfortunately, politicians prefer to use tragedies like this to push their political agenda. It’s a damn shame that innocent lives are lost due to mental illness while politicians use their deaths for political gain. We must do everything we can to prevent this from happening again, and that starts with not letting the White House and Democrats weaponize tragedies.
It’s time to take action. We must look at the root causes of gun violence and create preventative measures. This includes better mental health awareness and treatment, empowering lawful gun owners, and making our schools safer.
We owe it to the victims of this tragedy and all the victims of gun violence to make a difference. We can’t let the White House and Democrats use this tragedy to push their political agenda.
