A respected technology executive based in the U.S. has tragically died in a horrific accident. Sanjay Shah, CEO of Vistex – a revenue management company located in Illinois – fell to his death after a stunt went wrong on stage.
The incident occurred during a company-wide celebration at Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad, India. The two-day event was held to commemorate Vistex Asia’s 25th anniversary. During one of the stunts, a cable holding up an iron cage snapped, causing it to plummet to the ground. Shah, aged 56, sustained fatal injuries and was rushed to the hospital where he passed away. He leaves behind a wife and two daughters. Vistex’s president, Raju Datla, was also involved in the accident and is currently in critical condition at the hospital.
According to local police, Shah and Datla were waving to their staff while being lowered in the cage when the incident occurred. It was revealed that the music was playing in the background, and the cage was being pulled by a rolling machine when the accident happened. The force of the fall, from a height of about 15 feet, caused multiple injuries to both men, leading to Shah’s unfortunate demise.
Due to the negligence and lack of safety measures by the event organizers, Vistex is taking legal action against them. The company believes that appropriate precautions should have been in place to prevent such a tragic accident from occurring.
Shah was originally from Mumbai, India, and moved to the U.S. at the age of 17. He obtained an MBA from Lehigh University in Pennsylvania at the young age of 21. After a successful career at PricewaterhouseCoopers, General Motors, and SAP, Shah founded Vistex in 1999.
Today, Vistex has a global presence with 20 offices worldwide and employs over 2,000 people. The company has an annual turnover of approximately $300 million and boasts an impressive client list that includes General Motors, Barilla, and Bayer.
Aside from his successful business endeavors, Shah also had a philanthropic side. He founded the Vistex Foundation, which operates in various continents and aims to tackle the root causes of poverty by partnering with organizations that provide education and health services to underprivileged communities.
