The View’s horrified and irate rant about the Supreme Court’s abolition of affirmative action was truly alarming and outrageous. The panel’s particularly egregious comments came from moderator Whoopi Goldberg, who declared that it could mean “no women in colleges soon.” She also took Justice Clarence Thomas’s comments out of context to accuse him of not understanding the experiences and struggles of his parents as African Americans. Sunny Hostin then joined the discussion, calling out the fact that white women had benefited made the most of affirmative action initiatives.
The bigotry of The View was in full display on Thursday, with Whoopi Goldberg failing to address the actual reason behind the Supreme Court’s decision. Rather than address the elephant in the room (meaning Harvard University’s racial discrimination against Asian students, which is what the case was about), she ludicrously speculated that the ruling would lead to women not being allowed to attend college.
Goldberg’s terribly distorted logic indicated that the 14th Amendment was not providing equal protection—which completely overlooks the fact that affirmative action is not supposed to guarantee equality but rather a proper representation of all groups in higher education and the workplace.
Sunny Hostin amplified Goldberg’s bias and falsehoods by pointing out that white women were the biggest beneficiaries of affirmative action, completely disregarding the original purpose of this reform. Moreover, Hostin’s biased point of view appears to be inherited from her father, who taught her that she has to “ work twice as hard to get half as far” in this country.
In spite of their proclamations, neither Goldberg nor Hostin appeared to be concerned with the recruitment of students from an array of backgrounds. Nor did they bother to explain how the abolition of affirmative action would prevent women from attending college. Instead, the entire segment seemed to be an attempt to deflect from the real issue- Harvard’s blatant racial discrimination- and demonize anyone who did not agree with their point of view.
The View’s discussion about the Supreme Court’s abolition of affirmative action on Thursday indicated that the panelists were not interested in productive dialogue and had no genuine interest in the welfare of minorities.
Their alarming and unhinged comments only served to distract from the real focus, masking it under a cloud of racism and sexism. The View should reconsider their bigoted talking points and refrain from such blatant misrepresentations in the future.
Sunny Hostin needs to be removed from the table on The View. She is most racist woman against white people, that I have ever heard on any program. Poor little rich girl doesn’t get her way. I am not against black people, have some very wonderful black friends. I realize our ancestors were terrible against blacks, not all of them did, however there are these of us white people, women in general, who was not involved in all these BS that she spews. She needs to stop spewing so much hatred towards white people and get off her high chair.

If Goldberg were accused of having any intelligence, she would never be convicted. The case would be thrown out of court for lack of evidence.
