Harris’s Philly Fiasco: Dem’s Smell Blood In The Water [Video]

Philadelphia Democratic Party Chair Bob Brady is not holding back in his criticism of Vice President Kamala Harris, who lost her bid for reelection on Tuesday. Hours after her defeat, Brady spoke out against her lack of coordination with the city’s Democrats, implying that this was the reason for her demise.

In an interview with NBC10 Philadelphia, Brady stated, “I would’ve liked to see the Harris campaign – especially the national campaign – coordinate with us a little bit. Talk to us a little bit. Give us a little bit more resources. Show us some respect. Didn’t happen.” He went on to say that the campaign was “elitist” and excluded the local Democratic party, ward leaders, and committee people.

Brady’s criticism stems from the fact that the Harris campaign heavily focused on Philadelphia, the largest city in the crucial battleground state of Pennsylvania, in the final days leading up to the election. The vice president held her final rally at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, which featured performances from popular artists like Lady Gaga and Ricky Martin. However, Brady called the event a “waste of money” and stated that it caused traffic delays, inconveniencing working people.

“I got more complaints … traffic jam after traffic jam. You couldn’t get out. So what happens? They’re mad. Why is this happening? Because of a concert that she showed up at 11:30 at night? Give me a break,” Brady told Fox News.

In response to Brady’s comments, the Harris campaign fired back, with campaign strategist Brendan McPhillips stating, “If there’s any immediate takeaway from Philadelphia’s turnout this cycle, it is that Chairman Brady’s decades-long practice of fleecing campaigns for money to make up for his own lack of fundraising ability or leadership is a worthless endeavor that no future campaign should ever be forced to entertain again.”

But Brady’s criticism did not stop there. He also expressed regret in not keeping President Joe Biden as the Democratic nominee, stating, “Obama, Biden all came to say hi to the ward leaders, that means something. They [the Harris campaign] never showed up.” He also mentioned that Harris’s campaign failed to resonate with Philadelphia voters, stating, “I don’t think that the Democrats that live in the city related to her. And I don’t know why. I don’t know whether there was an elitist factor out there. I don’t know why she didn’t talk to them.”

Indeed, Harris fell short of Biden’s vote share in Delaware County, where Philadelphia is located, by around 9,000 votes. While Biden captured 206,423 votes, totaling 62.9% of the vote share, Harris received only 61.2% of the total count with 197,404 votes. It is clear that even in her home state, Harris failed to garner the same support as her running mate.

It is evident that Brady’s criticisms of Harris and her campaign are rooted in disappointment and a lack of respect. He believed that the campaign ignored the local Democratic party and failed to connect with the voters in Philadelphia. In contrast, President Trump showed up and campaigned tirelessly in the state, resonating with voters and ultimately winning the state. Harris’s elitist attitudes, lack of coordination with the Democratic party, and failure to resonate with voters cost her this way.
