Mark Cuban Backtracks On Claim That Trump Is ‘Never Around Strong, Intelligent Women’

During a recent appearance on “The View,” billionaire entrepreneur Mark Cuban made a comment about former President Donald Trump that quickly drew backlash from Trump’s supporters and the former president himself. Cuban suggested that Trump’s discomfort with strong, intelligent women was the reason for his distance from Nikki Haley, who criticized Trump’s campaign focus on “bromance and masculinity” instead of messaging that resonates with female voters.

However, Cuban has since taken to social media to clarify his remarks and apologize for any offense they may have caused. In a post on X, Cuban wrote, “I apologize to anyone who felt slighted or upset by my response. As I said, it wasn’t about Trump voters, supporters or employees. Current or former.” He also acknowledged that he may not have articulated his thoughts clearly during the interview, saying, “I set myself up for the 6 sec soundbite. No excuses. Can’t nail every interview. My skin is thick enough.”

Unfortunately, Trump’s response to Cuban’s comments was not as gracious. In a post on X, Trump called Cuban “a really dumb guy” and dismissed his claims. He stated, “Mark Cuban, a really dumb guy, who thinks he’s ‘hot stuff’ but he’s absolutely nothing, is now out there saying that I don’t surround myself with strong women.” Trump went on to claim that he actually surrounds himself with the strongest of women, and that he believes all women are great regardless of their strength.

This type of back-and-forth between public figures is becoming all too common, as seen recently with President Joe Biden’s comments about Trump’s supporters. When Biden referred to them as “garbage,” his team quickly tried to clarify and soften the statement, with White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre stating, “Just to clarify, he was not calling Trump supporters garbage.” She went on to explain that Biden’s remarks were in reference to a specific comedian who had made hateful remarks about Puerto Rico and not a general statement about all of Trump’s base.

It’s clear that Cuban’s attempted clarification and apology were not enough for Trump, who has never been known for holding back his opinions. Instead of accepting the apology and moving on, Trump chose to belittle Cuban and dismiss his words as irrelevant. This type of behavior is not uncommon for Trump, who has a track record of attacking anyone who disagrees with him.

Biden’s team quickly tried to clarify and soften his controversial statement, acknowledging that it was not meant to be a generalization about all Trump supporters. This shows a level of accountability and respect that seems lacking in Trump’s response to Cuban’s comment.

While Cuban may have misspoken and caused offense to some, his efforts to apologize and clarify his remarks should be commended. Trump’s response, however, highlights a lack of maturity and respect for differing opinions. It’s important for public figures to take responsibility for their words and actions, and to strive for more respectful and productive discourse, even when disagreements arise.
