President-elect Donald Trump has announced his pick for secretary of defense, and his name is Pete Hegseth. Known for his tough military experience, Hegseth has been tapped by Trump to lead the most powerful military in the world. But not everyone is thrilled about this choice – “The View” co-host Whoopi Goldberg slammed Hegseth, saying he “clearly does not know anything about the military.”
Hegseth, a former Army National Guard officer who served in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Guantanamo Bay, has been criticized for his views on women in combat and the lowering of military standards. In a recent clip aired on “The View,” he expressed his opposition to women fighting in combat, leading Goldberg to question his qualifications for the job.
“So is this the guy who’s qualified to make decisions about the most powerful military in the world who clearly does not know anything about the military,” Goldberg said.
But Trump stands by his choice, praising Hegseth as a “Warrior for the Troops” and touting his military experience. In a statement on his social media platform, Truth Social, Trump wrote, “Pete is tough, smart and a true believer in America First.” He also commended Hegseth’s book, “The War on Warriors,” which delves into issues of dysfunction and betrayal in the military.
Hegseth’s appointment aligns with Trump’s plans to shake up the Department of Defense. In particular, Trump intends to fire “woke” Pentagon officials, slash funding, decrease the number of generals, and roll back diversity and inclusion efforts. According to the America First Policy Institute, a think tank aligned with Trump, these changes are necessary to bring the military back to “meritocracy, lethality, accountability, and excellence.”
This stance has drawn criticism from some, but Trump is determined to put the needs of the military first. He has even praised Hegseth’s support for Chief Petty Officer Edward Gallagher, who was acquitted of war crime charges in Iraq. With Hegseth by his side, Trump is confident that America’s enemies will be put on notice and that the military will be “Great Again.”
As the debate over Hegseth’s qualifications continues, one thing is certain – Trump is not backing down from his America First policies when it comes to the military. And with Hegseth at the helm, there’s no telling what changes are in store for the Department of Defense.
Whoopie and the rest of “The View” have a habit of speaking without thinking (but that would assume they had a brain to begin with). Not to worry, it makes it easier for the public at large to see how incredibly ignorant, shallow and hateful they are and have been, and they will inevitably sink in their own swill.
I know it will be a shock..but…honestly Whoopi..no one gives a dam what you think or what you have to say…about anything..I certainly would never watch the “view “ ..I think watching the grass grow is much more important
Whoopi, like the rest of The View, pops off with statements that show her ignorance. Why she and the show have a following boggles the mind.
Oh, “Whoopie”doo. I am positive that you DID NOT comment on the lying pediophile Walz!
Walz, if you recall , RETIRED days before his National Guard unit shipped out to Afghanistan!
He called himself a high ranking noncom BEFORE he earned it! He claimed to have carried weapons of war into combat, when he never went. Yet, YOU said NOTHING!!! You hypocrite, you cow! You obnoxiously ignorant never was!
