The latest from CBS’s morning show paints “women” as a derogatory term – instead, the CEO of August, Nadya Okamoto, encouraged the use of the term “menstruators” to represent those who experience periods. Okamoto referred to August as a “gender-inclusive” product for “everyone who menstruates”.
Under the guise of advocating for “equal rights,” and combating period poverty, Okamoto claimed that “periods make human life possible” – a statement which ignores biology and reinforces the concept that gender is a societal construct. Despite the fact she received praise for her anti-science messaging, Okamoto’s suggestion to switch “women” to “menstruators” in the CBS chyron is absurd and contradicts modern day feminism.
“I wonder what King wants to be referred as since she likely doesn’t get her period anymore and can’t be called a ‘menstruator’. And the other dudes on the segment…what should we call them? Semen producers? You see how bonkers this seems?!” One user sarcastically replied when the clip of the CBS exchange played out. To create such a play on words is a mockery of the concept of modern day feminism. Women don’t want to be seen as “menstruators,” and this sort of labeling completely discredits efforts of the women’s rights movement and its progress towards the advancement of women’s political, social, and economic standing.
'CBS Mornings' had someone on from a women's health company to talk about periods and the CEO didn't say women have periods, but instead repeatedly referred to them as "menstruators" pic.twitter.com/ompOv2hGSX

The discrimination against women does not end with references to their biological functions as “menstruators.” It has been found that even after a century of the fight for gender equality, women are discriminated against through programs such as Affirmative Action and Reid. Under these programs, male applicants are given a huge advantage during the hiring process.
According to an article published by PTI, Affirmative Action policies discriminate against men and women with equal qualifications by limiting the hiring of the former. Similarly, Reid circumvents the normal job-seeking process by entailing an assessment of whether or not potential candidates are suitable to a job, and the outcome of this assessment too is skewed in favor of men.
It seems that after decades of struggle, the fight for gender equality is still going nowhere. The act of reducing the phrase “women” to “menstruators” is a reflection of the inability of modern society to truly accept women’s rights as acknowledged by men’s inalienable rights, and the discrimination against women by programs such as Affirmative Action and Reid further reinforces this point.
Women's health CEO, whose company has their own pads for periods, says they want "a period-positive, gender-inclusive brand" and "on the back, it we're here for everyone who menstruates and…in this age of transphobia, it really means a lot for us to be a gender-inclusive brand" pic.twitter.com/Lakney9sTH

Women’s rights need to be taken seriously, instead of being reduced to jokes or dismissive comments. Women should be recognized as women rather than “menstruators” and given equal rights and opportunities.
Playing with words is an attempt to impress, but it really shows stupidity. Back in the sixties I was visiting a college football game and a couple of students who were impressed with themselves started to chant “obtain the oblong spheroid” instead of “get that ball” – totally unnecessary but they wanted attention. Too bad – they came off as idiots.
These are the brain dead that can only obtain the publicity/attention they crave by verbalizing their ignorance.
