Watch: MTG Mourns Two of Her Constituents Were Killed at Border, Impeach Mayorkas!

Republican representative of Georgia, Marjorie Taylor Greene, reminds the world on Tuesday, on X (formerly Twitter), of two constituents murdered by illegal immigrants. She speaks in a clip posted to the website about the courts and barriers currently posing problems for impeaching the Secretary of Homeland Security, Alejandro Mayorkas, due to his inability to close the U.S. southern border.

As the interviewer points out that these constituents were killed in Texas, Greene corrects her when she reminds the reporter that her two constituents, Jose and Isabel Lerma, are from her district. She laments the political effect, with nods to the families of the Lermas, that all such tragedies are caused by the Democrats’ refusal to secure the border. Thus Greene is as determined as ever to impeach Mayorkas for his role in their deaths.

“From my district. Yep, from my district. And they were on their way to visit family, and they were killed when a 17-year-old — a likely cartel member — was smuggling illegal aliens into our country and hit them head-on, and they were killed in a car accident,” the congresswoman said.

Greene feels a personal connection to her two constituents and recounts their story in detail: “Oh, my goodness, the sweet couple from Dalton, Georgia … And they were killed in Texas, right?”

According to the U.K. Daily Mail, the Nov. 8 crash that killed the Lermas occurred around 6:30 a.m. near Batesville, Texas. They died only one month short of their 49th anniversary. The collision also took the lives of all six passengers in the other vehicle, including a 17-year-old human smuggler. Some of the illegal immigrants hailed from Honduras, as did the smuggler, though the teen apparently had been living in Houston. His immigration status is unknown.

The fatal crash occurred as the carload of illegal immigrants tried to evade law enforcement. While attempting to pass an 18-wheeler in a no-passing zone, the car collided head-on with the Lermas’ SUV. This tragedy serves as a reminder of the dangers and consequences of open borders and the inability to properly secure our nation’s boundaries.

At a Homeland Security Committee meeting on Nov. 14, Greene confronted Mayorkas with a photo of the late couple. “I want you to look at these innocent Americans. Do you see them?” she said, according to The Washington Times. Mayorkas replied that he did see them, at which point Greene reminded him of their tragic fate. She then warned him that he should resign unless he wants to face impeachment. It is clear that Mayorkas bears a great deal of responsibility for the unlawful border crossing and subsequent loss of innocent American lives.

In connection to this disastrous event, Greene references “over 1.8 MILLION known gotaways” who have been able to enter the United States since 2021. Mayorkas cannot seem to get a handle on the issue, and must therefore be held accountable for his role in it. The open borders policies that Biden has implemented, with Mayorkas as his chief enforcer, are directly responsible for this crisis and must be addressed immediately.

The tragic loss of the Lermas serves as a stark reminder of the dangers associated with illegal immigration.

The fact that this tragedy could have been prevented with proper border security is a call to action for all Americans to take a stand for the safety and security of our nation.

The open borders policies of the Biden administration, enacted by Mayorkas, have created a national security crisis that cannot be ignored. In order to protect our country and its citizens, it is imperative that we hold Mayorkas and the Biden administration accountable for their failures. The only true solution to this crisis is to elect leaders who prioritize the safety and security of our nation and its people.
