You’ll Be Shocked To See What DC Looks Like Ahead Of Election

As the 2024 presidential election between former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris approaches, businesses in Washington, D.C. are taking precautionary measures by boarding up their doors and windows. Despite the potential for post-election chaos, some businesses remain relatively calm.

Employees at Panera Bread, McDonald’s, and Potbelly Sandwich Shop near the White House shared their concerns with the Daily Caller. One Panera Bread employee stated, “We’re just getting ready for some stuff that could happen…We think there could be a little bit of chaos happening, especially in this area. It happened four years ago — a lot of people breaking our doors in.”
Similarly, a bartender at The Bottom Line, which has not boarded up their establishment, told the Caller, “The consensus among us is [that there are] no safety concerns…It’s precaution. Prepare for the worst, hope for the best …[We’ve] been here for 45 years, so we’ve survived a lot worse.”

Meanwhile, at The Xchange, another establishment not barricaded, a bartender remarked, “Something’s gonna happen…if Trump doesn’t win, a bunch of s—t is going to go down. If Trump does win, there’s going to be a bunch of s—t going down. I’m gonna sit on the roof and just drink.”

The concerns of these businesses and their employees reflect the growing fear of potential violence and unrest after the election results are announced. But despite these fears, Chief Pamela Smith of the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan Police Department has made it clear that law and order will be maintained. During a press briefing on October 29th, Chief Smith stated, “I want to be very clear…We will not tolerate any violence of any kind. We will not tolerate any riots. We will not tolerate the destruction of property. We will not tolerate any unlawful behavior. Offenders will be arrested and will be held accountable.”

While some businesses are taking precautions, others have chosen not to do so. This decision reflects their confidence in the city’s ability to maintain peace and order, regardless of the election outcome.

The Caller reached out to media officials for comment from several businesses, but did not receive a response. This lack of response may be due to their focus on preparing for any possible unrest.

The concerns of businesses in Washington, D.C. demonstrate the division and tension surrounding the upcoming election. However, Chief Smith’s assurance of law and order should offer reassurance to citizens and businesses alike. As we approach Election Day, it is important to remain calm and trust in the democratic process. Regardless of the outcome, the rule of law must be upheld and any violence or destruction will not be tolerated. Let us come together as a nation, rather than let petty differences tear us apart.
